Welcome to the website of the Künstlerhaus in Meinersen! Neuer Stipendiat im Künstlerhaus: Ziming Peng Artist Statement My recent and future research focuses on the study of digital media theory, social and cultural aspects and related artistic practice. In my current research, the topic of digital images and their materiality plays a crucial role. As a form of internal integration, digital images form a unified entity in empiricism and encompass all elements of spectacular cultural society. Website und Übersicht der Arbeiten von Ziming Peng: https://www.zimingpeng.com https://www.zimingpeng.com/works Drews Art & Communication in the Künstlerhaus, picture lecture AI as an inspiration partner Ric Drews Thursday, November 28th, 2024, 7:00 p.m Künstlerhaus Meinersen admission free Ric Drews Artificial Intelligence AI is making its presence felt every day with new headlines. AI/AI is reported in both positive and negative superlatives. As a former automobile designer and IT product design manager, who is now a cultural promoter at Lasterkultur gUG at Waldinsel.com as a shareholder, Ric Drews would like to show in this lecture how AI can be used as an inspiring digital partner for generating text and audio and images and is spreading rapidly. Using these AI tools is not as easy as it seems. For hobby creatives, impressive works seem to be created very quickly in an easy way. However, as in all disciplines, in order to work professionally with AI tools, a lot of training is required. And this not only affects the user, but also the digital Inspirations AI partner. Ric Drews would therefore like to outline the current AI learning areas for an interested audience in his lecture. However sophisticated this contraption may be, it is not perfect. Every human being has a very personal construct of their environment based on physiological, cultural or individual experience. In my work, the senses are misled, and at the same time it raises the questions: Can I believe my eyes? To the picture gallery II -click here ! Ping Qiu was born in Wuhan PR China in 1961, studied painting at the Fine Art Academy in Hangzhou and went to the HdK nach Berlin on the recommendation of the Chinese sculptor Shinkichi Tajiri . Here she initially continued to paint in her traditional Chinese technique, but was overwhelmed by the European culture shock and stated that she could not continue this painting in Germany. She tried to paint "European" but could not overcome her internalized realism. She finally managed to emancipate herself from traditional Chinese art through the medium of installation. This was completely new to her and here she was finally able to develop new artistic potential. In particular, the red rubber gloves became her preferred material. She sewed these together and arranged them on bodies of water to create a poetic impression of water lilies, reminiscent of the water lilies painted by Claude Monet. The finger flowers have become her trademark, but her work is far "... more than delicate flowers". She has already shown these in New York, on the Grand Canal in Venice, at the Biennale in Havana, in the Mies van der Rohe House in Berlin, in Korea, Worpswede and now in Meinersen. What traces does a hand brush leave in acrylic paint? What structure does a steel sponge leave behind in the picture? We throw one or the other design rule overboard and allow ourselves freedom in the creative process. The participants can experiment with different means by painting, wiping, scratching, spraying and thus expanding their repertoire. The starting point for the experimental approach are still lifes that invite the investigation of structures and forms. The starting point is a photo template. It begins with the precise transfer to the painting surface. After that, all paths to the goal are open. Whether acrylic, oil or watercolor, the color is in the foreground. During the course, the aim is to achieve the desired or “undesirable” result in a playful and free way. Greta © Brunswick Newspaper 2020 Scholarship holder draws herself - in the comic by Reiner Silberstein Greta Von Richthofen is the new scholarship holder at the Künstlerhaus Meinersen. Next to her are (from left) the artistic director Jochen Weise and the chairman of the supporting association Andreas Schuster. Link to the online version - please click ! © Reiner Silberstein minesen How does a comic artist like Greta von Richthofen deal with the start of her one-year scholarship at the Meinersen Artists’ House of all times during the deepest lockdown of the corona pandemic? Very simple: She draws him. Bang! Two walls in the 31-year-old's whitewashed studio speak volumes: there are notes, a timeline, a storyboard with rough sketches and finally the first finished pictures of a new story. The drawings show the artist's house, then she herself climbing the stairs with a hot drink in mid-April (trap! trap!) , sits down at the table in her studio and ponders the beginning. "This will be my project here," says von Richthofen - a comic that takes place in Meinersen and is of course shaped by all her impressions and everyday observations. "Otherwise I like to draw in color, but for this one I chose black and white." doodle! Corona had thrown their plans upside down. Because the artist, who was born in Vienna, actually had something else in mind: a story with a rhinoceros. Rooaaaar! "But I would have had to do research in museums for that," she says, maybe even have to go abroad - wooom! – everything is not possible. But their direction, realistic, documentary stories based on intensive research, are also possible in Meinersen without Nashorn. Here, the illustration and comics student in Hamburg and Kassel expected something completely new: "I didn't know so much nature and village life at all." And despite Corona, she finds it "very lively". ring, ring! squeak! slide! Comic artists are not commonplace in the Künstlerhaus, as artistic director Jochen Weise confirms. To be precise: Von Richthofen is the first. "Comics have developed into an artistic genre," he says, "we find it very exciting." That's why twelve art schools that also teach comics were specifically contacted this time for the call for entries. Tip, tipple tipple, tap! "We always advertise nationwide," says Andreas Schuster, the chairman of the sponsoring association. The four-person jury can always choose between 40 to 50 applicants, and suggest their favorites to the board. Von Richthofen then convinced in the interview. Clap clap clap! “Even as a small child I read and drew a lot,” she says. The enthusiasm for comics has always been there. "When I was 16 or 17, I discovered German independent authors. I thought to myself: I want to do that too.” Yeeeah! An excerpt from the already existing part of the Meinersen comic.Private She first puts the concept on paper with pens, but for the final images she uses a tablet PC and digital pen. "I also draw analogue, but then you have to scan everything afterwards." Sursursur! Also, mistakes cannot be corrected. However, von Richthofen prefers something tangible as an end product: “I love print, printed comics. Books are works of art.” leaves leaves! Weise can promise that the comic from Meinersen will eventually also be printed, a real comic book. “And an exhibition!” adds Schuster. Anyway, according to Weise, 2020 will be a year dedicated to comics: There will be a lecture by the illustrator Sascha Hommer from Hamburg on the history of this art form. Wow!

pictures of the place images of the landscape Meinersen town hall Wikipedia Meinersen history Merian engraving from 1654 In the Middle Ages, Meinersen was the seat of the "Meinersen family", who were first mentioned in 1147. They received their dominions directly as imperial fiefs and were not subordinate to any prince or duke. From 1248 to 1260, Oda von Meinersen was the abbess of the combined Gernrode and Frose monasteries. In 1292, troops of the Duke of Brunswick conquered the moated castle of Meinersen, which stood on the Weinberg district east of the Oker. In 1316, Duke Otto the "Strict of Lüneburg" destroyed the castle and added Meinersen to the principality of Lüneburg. Around 1350 a castle was built on the west side of the 0ker. During the HiIdesheim collegiate feud (1518-23) there was severe damage, but as a Merian engraving from 1654 shows, the palace complex was restored. In its place, the office building, todays artists house (Künstlerhaus), was built in 1765. The family von Meinersen died out in 1367 with the death of Bernhard II. In 1428 Meinersen reverted to the Duchy of Brunswick and was then loaned or pledged to various owners. In 1532 the duchy set up the Meinersen office, which existed until 1885 and collected taxes from the residents. The clerks house Former office building - today "Künstlerhaus" The clerks house (Amtsschreiberhaus) was built in 1745 as the official residence of the senior official . The two-story half-timbered building with pink partitions is slightly behind set north of the main street. At the dissolution of the Meinersen office in 1885, became an agricultural school there set up, which existed there until 1965. After a short transition period as a police station the municipal administration moved 1971 into the historic building. 1986-90 the new seat of the joint municipality Meinersen was created. For this purpose, the restored Official clerks house and an equally old one Outbuildings are connected by a glass corridor. Official clerks house - today part of the town hall Künstlerhaus The former office building of Meinersen is a two-storey half-timbered building from 1765 directly on the main street. It was built as the office the officials of the Meinersen government office. Meinersen Castle used to stand here, and remains of the wall can still be found in the ground. After the dissolution of the office in 1895, the house served as the official residence of the judge at the district court until 1959. After that it was used as a kindergarten. 1989 it was set up as an artist-house (Künstlerhaus), with six studio apartments. Here highly talented, young artists from Germany and abroad can work artistically for a year in rural seclusion.. The "Künstlerhaus" has been municipally owned since 1989 and is managed by a supporting association "Künstlerhaus Meinersen e.V..
